Our House

Christmas Greeting to the friends
Has been redacted!
If any you didn't get a chance to see it and would like to, just email me and I'll send you a link. Like, a hyperlink, not the kind from Legend of Zelda.

Different environmental demands form different characteristics. In calm weather these characteristics may be hidden; but in a storm they are revealed.

Sand sculpture meets reverse slo-mo

Time for steampunk

Watch this. The amount of time it takes to create art like this is substantial. It would be interesting to do an entire house in this style. Or a cross-medium short film. (This is just a trailer, and the DVD is apparently only available down under.)

Wooden Mirror

An Poem

Have A Nice Day

'Help, help, ' said a man. 'I'm drowning.'
'Hang on, ' said a man from the shore.
'Help, help, ' said the man. 'I'm not clowning.'
'Yes, I know, I heard you before.
Be patient dear man who is drowning,
You, see I've got a disease.
I'm waiting for a Doctor J. Browning.
So do be patient please.'

'How long, ' said the man who was drowning.
'Will it take for the Doc to arrive? '
'Not very long, ' said the man with the disease.
'Till then try staying alive.'
'Very well, ' said the man who was drowning.
'I'll try and stay afloat.
By reciting the poems of Browning
And other things he wrote.'

'Help, help, ' said the man with the disease,
'I suddenly feel quite ill.'
'Keep calm.' said the man who was drowning,
' Breathe deeply and lie quite still.'
'Oh dear, ' said the man with the awful disease.
'I think I'm going to die.'
'Farewell, ' said the man who was drowning.
Said the man with the disease, 'goodbye.'

So the man who was drowning, drownded
And the man with the disease past away.
But apart from that,
And a fire in my flat,
It's been a very nice day.

The Web That Wasn't

This man invented the Internet and computers. It's just that the Nazis got to him before the technology was ready. Very interesting stuff. Google turned off embedding on this one, so pardon the jump.

Saturday Night Live - Chicken of the Sea

For some reason this isn't on youTube and it wouldn't post properly here. Very hilarious. If you don't remember the original incident this skit is spoofing, see the wikipedia article on the subject, under the Popular References section.

Juggling Hammers

Thanks, D. I'd forgotten about this one.

Quote

"Don't come back until you have him", the Tick-Tock Man said quietly,
sincerely, extremely dangerously.

They used dogs. They used probes. They used cardio plate crossoffs.
They used teepers. They used bribery. They used stick tites. They
used intimidation. They used torment. They used torture. They used
finks. They used cops. They used search and seizure. They used
fallaron. They used betterment incentives. They used finger prints.
They used the bertillion system. They used cunning. They used guile.
They used treachery. They used Raoul-Mitgong but he wasn't much help.
They used applied physics. They used techniques of criminology. And
what [do you know], they caught him.

-- Harlan Ellison, "Repent, Harlequin, said the Tick-Tock Man"

Master of Orion
Duke Nukem (the original side-scrolling 2D game, delightfully free from objectionable content and actually worth playing, as compared to the FPS versions)

The Bread That Time Forgot

Here are a couple of pics of some bread that has been in one of the lockers in my old office since early February 2006, and mid-summer 2006, respectively. Both loaves of bread have nary a spot of mold on them. The bread that recently celebrated its one-year birthday is still spongey. The flavor that is only almost a year old has dried out most of the way, although a few months ago it was still a little soft.

That is all I have for now on my science experiment.

UMPC Future?

Actually, I think the interface and display will be more along the lines of AR, but UC seems to be where we're slowly but surely headed.
